Gaia School Asia is formed in 2012 By Tom Deiters and Sunisa Deiters .
The original intention of the project was to be a voluntary organisation with the vision to see a future where we, humans, live in harmony with nature with awareness, understanding, love and respect to nature.
The core believes are that we are not separate from nature and that all beings have intrinsic value and children are born with a natural connection to nature. In collaboration with schools, communities, NGOs and parents, we worked with children and youth in Asia, through our education and activities, to keep and deepen their connection to nature as well as encouraging them to seek for a more sustainable lifestyle.
The project has worked with local children and youth in Asian countries for two years before we started to build the Gaia Ashram as a learning center.
Since then the target audience has been broader to include people of all ages from all around the world. The main focus of the project is still on Nature awareness and education for sustainability.
Education programs provide at the Gaia Ashram learning centre includes Permaculture, Ecovillage Design Education, Deep Ecology & Work That Reconnects, Socially Engaged Spirituality, Natural Building. Self – Awareness & Personal Empowerment etc.
