Gaia Ashram Holistic Sustainable Living 10th – 24th February 2019

At Gaia Ashram we are practicing holistic sustainable living for over 5 years. Gaia Ashram is a alternative and community based education centre with a strong focus on natural and organic farming, permaculture as well as spirituality, nature connection and deep ecology. During this two weeks we will create open spaces, learning opportunites and you will learn how to live in an international community. Together we will create a supportive learning community build on trust, compassion, support and connection.

Based on this experience Gaia Ashram is offering the first Holistic Sustainable Living course full of experiential learning as well as intellectual study and dialogue on the topics of Holistic Sustainable Living covering four aspects of life; Ecology, Economic, Social and Worldview (Inspired by Gaia Education).

Holistic sustainable living course offers co-creating and open spaces

The holistic sustainable living course ask participants to come in with spirit of exploration, curiosity, co-creation and contribution. We believe the learning will be so much more richer if we open space for the knowledge to flow from all directions.

And we deeply believe that everyone has something to share, to offer or to contribute. It can be knowledge, experience, dreams, passions, stories or open heart and deep listening etc. This course is different than any courses we ever done at Gaia Ashram as we make it very open for participants to contribute to the learning community, to hold and co-create the learning space together.

How the two weeks program will look like?

The holistic sustainable living course ask participants to come in with spirit of exploration, curiosity, co-creation and contribution. We believe the learning will be so much more richer if we open space for the knowledge to flow from all directions. We will use particpative methods to frame all this incoming energy and knowlege to a two week program that gives you holistic overview and insight about sustainable lifestlye and new ways of approaching life.

Tree of knowlege

Before coming together we will ask you to send us some topics and issues related to sustainable living you already gained knowlege and expertiese to make the most of the different perspectives. At the same time we will ask for topics or issues you want to learn about. Based on this insights we will create a tree of knowlege that will evolve during the two weeks and helps us to connect people, interest and knowlege, talent in the best way.

Meditation & Yoga

The day will start with meditation and Yoga that is optional for people to join or to offer instruction. This is a daily practice at Gaia Ashram that is open for guests to join or to offer. A part from sitting and walking meditation and yoga we also open for other kind of practices that are not harmful to oneself and others. Taichi, Qi Gong or dance are all welcome.

Community Living

Community living is one of the aspect that we will learn, explore and experience here. We will be integrated into the Gaia Ashram community and will all learn and experience what it takes to create a community. Together, among all the participants we will create a community as a basis of our two weeks journey together.

Discussion & Dialogue

In this two weeks,  we will have time to discuss and learn from each other what is holistic sustainable living. For this to happen effectively we invite participant to come with spirit of exploration and curiosity. We are in the time where we are looking for new story, alternatives, better ways to live that are meaningful and in tuned with the earth. Open dialogue like this will help us to explore into the known and yet unknown. It will help knowledge to flow from all and to all directions and insights to emerge at anytime and any point . Through this way of learning, we believe and have the experience that it bring about deeper and more meaningful learning. We, the Gaia Ashram team, are not the teachers. We are space holders that hold the space for the sharing and interaction to flow and we invite all participants to feel themselves as space holder as well.

Presentations

There are open spaces for participants to share their ideas, knowledge, experience. We, the Gaia Ashram team will also offer presentations on our knowledge and experience.  However, we encourage participants to also share knowledge of what they are passionate about. We invite participants to contribute to the learning space by sharing their experiences, knowledge, passion, dreams, insights etc, in form of presentation or in other forms. We invite participants to come with spirit of co-creating. We all will co – create this learning space together.

Workshops

Through out the two weeks, there will be small workshops relates to any aspects of holistic sustainable living( Ecology, Economy, Worldview and Social). Gaia Ashram team will offer various workshops and we also invite participants who wish to lead a workshop, relating to the theme, to take the space.

Hands On

There will be daily hands on activity to engaged ourself with the land, with nature. This is also an important part of our holistic education philosophy that we don’t only exercise our brain and our heart but also have our muscles and our whole body engages in the story. This not only help us to stay balance and healthy but also help nature and the land to stay balance and healthy. It will be a wonderful gift we can give back to the land that host our learning. We will get a chance to experience Permaculture and nature restoration in practice. It also open for participants who have hands on experience relating to Permaculture to lead hands on

Celebration and Recreation

At Gaia Ashram we daily celebrate life in our traditions. We bless the food, each other and all beings every meal. We sign, we dance, we share stories around the fire etc. It is also open for participants to take initiative in this space.
