 Earthen Building is building that use raw earth(unfired, un threaten) as main building material. Building an earthen house is a process that reconnects us to the mother earth as we have to observe, feel, touch and learn about the dirt and the natural materials. The building processes help us to realize, understand and respect the dirt, its qualities and characteristic. In this Earthen Building Workshop, A part from learning building techniques you will also build a new perception towards dirt and nature. 

why earthen building?

Earthen building has the least impact on the environment in the process of building or dismantling. Earthen houses are suitable for tropical climate because it keeps the house cool during the day when the weather’s hot and keeps the house warm when it’s cold outside during the night.Earthen building allows you to be creative.Earthen buildings use natural and local materials. Building an earthen house is a process to deepen your connection with the earth. This course will also empower you to build your own house.

What is Earthen Building workshop covers?

This Earthen Building Workshop will cover in theory and practices on the following

  • making earthen bricks
  • building/constructing walls with earthen bricks technique
  • building/constructing walls with earth bag techniques
  • building/constructing walls with cob techniques
  • installing windows
  • natural plaster and paint

DAY 2 

6:00 – 7:15 Yoga

8:45 – 12.00 am Morning session: Making earth bags

12:30 Lunch

14.30 – 17.00 Afternoon session: Wall Building with earth bags

17:45 -18:20 Dance

18:30 – 19:00 Quiet time/ Meditation

14.30 – 17.00 Afternoon session: Wall building with adobe bricks

8.45 – 12.00 : Morning session: Wall Building with cob technique

14.30 – 17.00 Afternoon session: Door/window installation

6:00 – 7:15 Yoga

8.45 – 12.00 : Morning session: Wall plastering, wall painting

12:30 Lunch

14.30 – 16.00 pm Afternoon session: Wrap up/ Q&A session

course fee

Adults – 5,500 baht

Youth under 16 years old – 4,500 baht

Children under 10 years old – 3,500 baht

Price includes vegetarian food and dormitory accommodation throughout the course

 

cancelation policy

Cancellation 15 days prior to the course, Gaia Ashram refunds 50% of the fee.Cancellation after 15 days before the course, Gaia Ashram reserves the right to not refund the full fee.

Food & Accommodation

Included in the fee is accommodation in our dormitory, 3 vegetarian/vegan meals per day, as well as yoga, dance, and meditation. We also have private accommodation available that can be booked for an additional fee.

Accommodations :

  • Dormitory : hostel style. Mosquito nets, cushions, bedding, and blankets are provided.
  • Private rooms for an extra fee (big room 1,750 THB for course duration depending on availability at the time, Ideal for couples and/or small family). Small Room is  1250 THB

Food :

Healthy local vegetarian and vegan food will be served by local cooks.

Indoor sessions will be held in our naturally built sala or our mini sala out of bamboo. Practical sessions will be happening on the land.

Toilets & showers

Showers : 

         Common showers are available. There are two closed shower rooms and four simple outdoor showers.

Toilets :

        Common toilets are available. Two dry compost toilets and two vermi-compost toilets.

  • GAIA CAFE on our land. Here you can get your daily dose of coffee and tea, and have a look at our GAIA ESSENCE natural products.
  • The ponds to swim and enjoy boating 
  • Internet: We provide Wi-Fi in our cafe and you usually get good reception with AIS.

We will then ask you to fill a registration form and we will sent you the payment information for the fee for Ecovillage Lifestyle Experience Week. After payment your booking is confirmed.
